One of our favourite bands to bang our heads too whilst getting hot and sweaty in packed out mosh pit (pre-Covid, obvs) are local legends Nick Nuisance & the Delinquents. We caught up with lead singer Nick Leighton to chat his Top 5 all time albums that he’ll never stop listening to. Here we go…
The Nerves - One Way Ticket
I was only recently introduced to The Nerves' One Way Ticket and I've played it for breakfast, lunch and dinner ever since. Most mornings I wake up with either 'Working Too Hard' or 'When You Find Out' in my head and I once had a dream I was playing W’hen You Find Out’ with the boys on stage. I promptly woke up to the harsh reality that I just needed to piss. Badly. The Nerves did the original 'Hangin' On The Telephone' that Blondie took all the credit for. Look out for the 'Many Roads to Follow' demo; it sounds like four drunk dudes singing in a kitchen. It's super energetic and it gets me cookin'.
The Stooges - Fun House
The Fun House was a house that Iggy built from a dilapidated building while he was on mescaline and turned into The Stooges' house. Every time I listen to this album I see a young Iggy pelting bricks around faster than the eye can see with a trail of fire coming from his silhouette. The album has it all; slow burner 'Loose', hard hitter 'Down On The Street' and of course 'Fun House'. There's a video somewhere on the internet of an 18 year old me hugging Iggy at the end of the Fun House Tour at Hordern Pavillion. His skin was leathery and hips all wonky.
Various Artists - What’s The Use? 12 Tales of Teen Torment
An absolute ripper. This is the first record I ever bought when I was in Japan in 2010. Ironically, it 's a compilation of forgotten Australian 60's bands that have turned into my favourite collection of songs ever. All of the recordings are pretty trash and the bands don't have much skill, but they give it a crack. What's The Use? is the only reason I started playing guitar; if they can do it, why can't I?

Flamin’ Groovies - Flamingo
I finally found this record online yesterday, should be coming today. NN&TD play a song that we haven't recorded called 'Solar', and it's the first song I ever recorded ages ago. One day I was trawling through the internet for new bands and the track 'Headin' For The Texas Border' popped on. It had the exact riff as ‘Solar’ and I was equally devastated and stoked. I thought if I was coming up with riffs similar to bands like Flamin' Groovies then I must be doing something OK?

The Gun Club - Fire of Love
The Gun Club sit at the perfect intersection of everything I like in music; they rip off blues from the 40's, go hard, Jeffrey Lee Pierce is a weirdo and they talk about sex heaps. There's a line in 'Jack On Fire'; "the sun behind me is a sexual red" that first got me into them. I first heard it on a compilation where I found The Cramps and The Sonics. Pretty fucking good haul!
