BEER + ALGAE

MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN.

A greener, more sustainable heaven - here on earth.

This August, together with our mates at UTS’ Deep Green Biotech Hub, we’ll be hosting a free online event for National Science Week 2020 titled ‘Science in Focus’ - Beer & Algae: Brewing A Greener Future, Thursday August 20th from 5:30pm.

Crack a tinnie, get comfy on the couch and join us for virtual tour of our Newtown brewery and algae bioreactors with co-founder Oscar McMahon and UTS Science’s Dr. Janice McCaughley. You will learn how the fusion of brewing science and climate change innovation led to an Australian-first, and hear how the humble organism – algae – is changing the future of our planet.

The virtual tour will be followed by a live panel discussion hosted by triple j Mornings and Dr. Karl co-host, Lucy Smith.

Get a front row seat as Lucy chats to our panel of experts: Professor of Marine Biology at UTS, Executive Director of the Climate Change Cluster (C3) in the Faculty of Science, and Founder of the Deep Green Biotech Hub (DGBH), Peter Ralph, Young Henrys Head Brewer Jesse Searls, Pocket City Farms co-founder Emma Bowen and sustainable fashion designer and Dr. Mark Liu, around the application of algae in the brewing process and sustainable practices that everyday business can adopt.

They’ll be an opportunity to ask questions at the end through commenting on the video stream.

Event is free, register here.

Catch you on-the-line, mates!
