Some Stories Are Worth Telling Properly
Classic Tales was our way of slowing things down and giving space to those stories, created in partnership with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, a club whose history runs deep through Sydney and beyond.
Across the series, we sat down with four figures who helped shape the Rabbitohs legacy, capturing their reflections in their own words. No scripts. No rush. Just honest conversations about what it meant to pull on the jersey.
The Voices Behind the Legacy
Each episode of Classic Tales spotlighted a different chapter in South Sydney’s story.
- Mark Courtney
A dedicated South Sydney fan, who spoke to the clubs toughest and most defining eras, Mark spoke candidly about resilience, belief and what it took to keep the club’s spirit alive. - Les Davidson
Known for his grit and presence on the field, Les reflected on the raw physicality of the game and the pride that comes with representing South Sydney. - Sean Garlick
From player to administrator, Sean shared insight into leadership, responsibility and the work behind the scenes that keeps a club moving forward. - Scott Geddes
Scott spoke about the culture of the club, the mateship formed on and off the field, and the moments that stay with you long after retirement.
Together, their stories formed a layered portrait of what South Sydney has always stood for - toughness, loyalty and an unshakeable sense of belonging.
Why Classic Tales Mattered
At Young Henrys, we’ve always believed culture lives in the details. In pubs, in footy clubs, in the stories people tell over a beer.
Classic Tales wasn’t about nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. It was about preserving history, sharing lessons, and giving newer generations a chance to understand what came before them straight from the people who lived it.
It was also a natural extension of our long-standing relationship with South Sydney, built on shared values: community, authenticity and backing what matters.
Carrying the Stories Forward
The Classic Tales series reminded us that while times change, the core of South Sydney doesn’t. The jerseys evolve, the game moves faster, but the stories - the real ones - remain.
We’re proud to have helped bring these voices together and to play a small role in keeping South Sydney’s legacy alive, one tale at a time.
