When we first fired up the tanks in our Newtown brewery, we wanted to brew something that felt like home, something that captured the spirit of the people, the pubs, and the streets around us. So when Newtown turned 150, we asked ourselves, what does a beer that celebrates this place look like?
It had to be honest. It had to be unique. And above all, it had to be a beer that felt like it already belonged here, poured in jugs at the Courty, cracked open in backyards, shared between old mates and new ones under the soft glow of a pub sign.
We brewed Newtowner, a modern Australian Pale Ale made from local malts and Aussie hops, full of flavour without the fuss. It was meant to be a one-off birthday gift to the neighbourhood, but the people - they loved it, and so we kept brewing it.
Since then, it’s become part of our DNA. The one to “put us on the map”. A true beer for the people who embody all that Newtown is - regardless of what postcode you’re sitting in whilst drinking it.
And because good things should be enjoyed for longer, and our consumer habits have continued to evolve, we created Newtowner 3.5. The same great taste, just a little lighter.

For us, Newtowner has always been more than a beer, it’s a reflection of our community. We’re constantly refining and improving the recipe, listening to the people who drink it, pour it, and love it. Every tweak, taste test and small adjustment comes from that same Newtown spirit - creative, collaborative, and never content to sit still.
