Real Ale returns! Introducing our Remastered series

Did you know - the past 12 years have seen us brew over 200 different beers?! From our core range favourites to the limited releases that let our brew team flex their creative muscle, every single one has a story. Now, we’re proudly giving a couple of long-lost fan favourites a new chapter, with our Remastered series.

Remastered will see us bringing back pre-loved YH beers in super small batches, to be tapped at select venues across the land. Here for a good time, not a long time, the first beer to get the Remastered treatment will be the OG core range member Real Ale!

WHAT IS REAl ALE?

First brewed in 2012, Real Ale was one of the three ‘founding’ YH beers alongside Natural Lager and an early version of our IPA, known then as Hop Ale. A ‘zig’ to the craft beer scene’s Pale Ale ‘zag’ at that time, Real Ale was/is our take on a classic English Best Bitter, born from a desire to bring locally-brewed, hand-pumped beers to the market.

Fast becoming a craft favourite in our little pocket of the world, Real Ale got a taste of international fame in 2014 when it got voted the BEST ‘Best Bitter’ at a major English Beer Festival dedicated to the style. The win saw it get tapped at around 900 pubs across the UK, continuing a trend of Australia beating England at stuff they invented following the Mitchell Johnson- led Ashes domination earlier that year.

WHAT DOES REAL ALE TASTE LIKE?

Considered one of the original ‘session beers’, English Best Bitters traditionally hold plenty of flavour and body, but a moderate strength. At a 4% ABV, our Real Ale is true to style, with fairly low carbonation and a long, smooth bitterness. Unlike the English version, our bitterness comes from the all-Australian hops - Galaxy, Stella and Topaz, all of which also add a bit of a citrus kick. With a 50/50 malt balance between Australian varieties and the classic English variety Maris Otter, Real Ale has a solid malt backbone which helps produce some slightly sweet, toffee flavours.

WHERE CAN I GET IT?
