Newtown Street Party: Young Henrys & The Courty Bring It Back to Where It All Began

We’re teaming up with The Courty once again to give summer the kick-off it deserves with Newtown Street Party! Going down Saturday, December 7th, we're taking over Eliza Street, filling it up with live tunes, frosty tinnies, and killer eats. Best part? It’s free to get in, with donations at the door going straight to Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.

From 1pm to 8pm, we’re serving up the ultimate inner west summer sesh with a lineup of Aussie legends. Headlining the outdoor stage is Newtown’s own Caitlin Harnett and the Pony Boys, plus we’ve got Velvet Trip, and none other than Murray Cook dropping beats with a special DJ set. Good Pash, The Melodrones, Maia Toakley, The Soul Movers, and Johnny Cash cover band JJ Geary and the Tennessee Three are set to bring the vibes too. And hang tight—there’s more to come.

We’ll have plenty of Young Henrys tinnies on deck, including Newtowner — celebrating its 13th year since pouring its first cold one at The Courty. Pop-up bars and food stalls featuring The Bank Hotel, The Courty and Public House Petersham will line Eliza Street, with the good vibes spilling into The Courty and its garden.

“The Young Henrys team will agree when I say we bloody love this neighbourhood just as much as we love live music, tinnies, and good food,” says Anne Kessler, GM of The Courty. “This is the Newtown Street Party’s third year, and every time, the turnout, vibes, and community spirit knock us out and get us pumped to go even bigger. What a way to kick off summer!”

Our Young Henrys co-founder Oscar McMahon adds, “We’re stoked to bring the Newtown Street Party back for another year. It’s all about good mates, great music, and cold beers right in our own backyard, with our longtime mates, The Courty.”

The Newtown Street Party is a proper labor of love for Young Henrys and The Courty, celebrating a 12-year friendship. Back in 2012, The Courty took a chance on us, pouring our Newtowner when we were still the new kids on the block. Since then, we’ve kept the tradition alive, marking Newtowner’s birthday with locals in The Courty’s beer garden.

So mark it down and get ready to crack a tinnie with us! Newtown Street Party is expected to draw around 5,000 legends throughout the day for a celebration of music, community, and top-notch beers.
