Best Served Loud.
A serving suggestion, a mentality & the title of our live music series which launched in Victoria this year.
Aimed at showcasing the ~schweet~ local music scene in VIC,Best Served Loudvisited our all-time favourite venues each month for a free party featuring live music and cheap beers. When it came to billing, the idea was simple: couple emerging artists with higher profile bands, giving the smaller bands a chance to play to a larger crowd, and more established acts a chance to play in intimate venues.
Kicking off in February at Fitzroy institution and haven for rock & roll,Labour In VainwithDumb Punts&Vertigo, Best Served Loud followed up with slacker-fuzz bandJade Imagineand indie darlingGena Rose BruceatTramway Hotelin March. April came next with singer/songwriter Jimmy Kyle ofChasing Ghoststopping the bill with Clowns'Hanny J& singer/producer/all-round legendLuke Yeowardon support duties atThe Standard Hotel.
The month of May called for an extra special edition. WithGood Beer Weekupon us, we decided to take the infamous Rock & Roll Circus on the road to debut in Melbourne for our May edition of Best Served Loud. FeaturingSloan Peterson, Chrissie Aubry (Batz), Ben Marwe (Bad//Dreems), Jae Laffer (The Panics) & stacks more performing classic rock & roll covers, backed by the YH house band - Monte & Elliott ofThe Delta Riggs, Jack Moffitt ofThe Preatures& Adam Della Grotta. Spirits were high as punters piled intoNorthcote Social Clubon a Wednesday night and witnessed one of our biggest Melbourne shows to this day.
In the following months, BSL featured the likes ofHobsons Bay Coast GuardwithBin&Gamjee,The Pretty LittleswithBATZ&Destrends,Fraser A.
