We're a bunch of animal lovers here at Young Henrys. If we had employees of the month, Brewsta the delivery dog and Jeff the Brewery Queen of Cats would definitely have each claimed their title. The guys from Quarryman's Hotel rescued a cat, Hopsy, recently and came up with the great idea to brew a beer to celebrate all the pub and beer cats out there. It seemed only fitting that the proceeds of the brew should go to our neighbours at the Cat Protection Society.
The brew is a smooth Chocolate Mint Porter, resulting from a blend of Crystal malts. Into the boil went 30 kilos of Black Gold Cacao from a family-owned farm in Venezuela and a one kilo hit of Catnip to give it its minty, earthy character. Sorachi Ace hops add a little citrus (lemon zest, lemongrass) kick to complement the natural mintiness of the Catnip.
Think of this as your after-dinner mint and raise a glass to pub cats and brewery cats the world over.
